Supporting nature recovery, education and public engagement
Our goal is to transform Woodsell into a sanctuary for wildlife, providing access to people who value peace, quiet and biodiversity.
About Us
In January 2021, Woodsell Limited, owned by local philanthropist Brian Pain, acquired Woodsell Farm, Stalisfield. The intention was to create over 120 acres of land rich in flora and fauna, which would be a sanctuary for wildlife and people who wished to enjoy the peace, quiet and biodiversity.
Woodsell Limited funded the formation of The John Foran Foundation, an independent company limited for guarantee. Woodsell Limited has granted the Foundation a 99-year lease at a peppercorn rent of the site shown edged red on the site plan.
The Foundation, which will soon apply for registration as charity, is thereby entrusted with the long term conservation of the woodland and wildlife land at Woodsell Farm, regenerative farming, the promotion of biodiversity, the advancement of education (including training in artisan skills), and affording access as appropriate to members of the public for their enrichment and appreciation of the English countryside, its wildlife and conservation.
